Great Meadow Loop
Length: 1 mile
Difficulty Rating: Easy
Also referred to as a village connector trail, the Great Meadow Loop is a short loop through the meadow and mixed forests. The trail is relatively flat with little obstructions. Leaving from the Cromwell Harbor Road in Bar Harbor, the trail follows the woods alongside the Harnden Farm road, crosses the road, then stays by the side of Loop Road.
Then Great Meadow Loop turns left, running parallel to Ledgelawn Rd. until connecting back with the Cromwell Harbor Rd., thus ending the circuit. As the trail turns left at the Loop Road/Ledgelawn intersection, a clear view of Great Meadow is revealed. There’s an active beaver population in the stream flowing out of the meadow and it’s possible to see lodges and other beaver activity in the area.
