The Ampitheater Trail
Length: 1.5 miles from the Little Harbor Brook Bridge on the Carriage Road to the summit of Cedar Swamp Mountain

Appropriately named, the Amphitheater trail gives hikers the sense that they are hiking in a giant granite arena as they climb north. The trail begins in coniferous woods until opening up and moving over granite ledge in a depression between Penobscot and Cedar Swamp Mountains. The sheer sides of the mountains are impressive and remain in view until reaching Birch Spring. From the spring the summit of Cedar Swamp is .1 mile.
