Penobscot Mountain Trail
Penobscot Mountain
Length: 1.2 mile from the Jordan Cliffs and Spring Trail intersection to the summit of Penobscot
Difficulty Rating: Moderate/Strenuous
The Penobscot Mountain trail is a varied hike over the Penobscot’s south ridge. Initially the trail is steep and uneven as it gains elevation quickly over a short series of cliffs. There are rock scrambles and sharp climbs for the first .2 mile until the trail reaches the ridge and levels out. Clear views of Jordan Pond become visible to the east and Cedar Swamp and Sargent Mountain present themselves to the west and north. Once on the ridge, the trail becomes more moderate and steady until reaching the summit.
