One of the more challenging hikes up Sargent Mountain, the Deer Brook Trail begins from the North end of Jordan pond and climbs steadily over boulders and roots as it follows the path of the Deer Brook. It intersects with the Penobscot Mountain Trail .8 mile from Jordan Pond. Turn left to join the Penobscot mountain trail (the summit is .3 mile) or right toward Sargent Mountain Pond to connect with the Sargent Mountain South Ridge trail.
