The North Ridge trail up Champlain Mountain offers hikers a direct route to the summit. The trail varies, moving over granite and man-made steps through mixed woods. Near the intersection of the East Face trail a great view of Beaver Dam Pond is revealed.
The trail opens up approximately .2 mile from the summit, becoming steeper as it moves over granite faces. On a clear day the summit offers spectacular views, including Frenchman Bay, the Porcupine Islands, Egg Rock and the summits of Cadillac and Dorr Mountains.
