Homans Path
Length: .3 miles from the Hemlock Road to the Dorr Mountain Trail
Difficulty Rating: Strenuous
The Homans path displays intricate granite work with an abundance of steps and large slabs of granite placed over the trail, so that hikers travel through a granite arch. Built in 1916 but unmarked since the 1940's, the trail was reopened in 2003. This short path connecting to the Dorr Mountain trail is a great piece of trail history.
Both Kurt Diederich’s’s Climb and Homans Path are memorial trails. Characteristic of historic trails in the Sieur de Monts area, the trails were built with extensive stone work, primarily in the form of granite steps.
