South Ridge Trail
Dorr Mountain
Length: 1.4 miles
Difficulty Rating: Moderate/Strenuous
The Dorr Mountain South Ridge Trail is one of the less constructed and traveled trails up Dorr Mountain. The South Ridge trail head intersects with the Canon Brook Trail. The trail gains elevation steadily, moving over a mixture of small boulders, granite faces and occasional forest floor. Steep sections periodically present themselves, but overall the ascent is fairly steady.
Once up on the ridge, about .2 mile from the junction with the Canon Brook trail, views of Cadillac Mountain to the West and Champlain Mountain to the East appear. From this point to the summit the trail is fairly straight, following the ridge and moving over granite and through sporadic clumps of pitch pine trees.
